Laying Headquarters Foundation Stone in 1975 – An
AACC Home in Nairobi
The foundation stone of the new
AACC headquarters in Nairobi was laid by His Excellency
President Jomo Kenyatta on 2 December 1975. The stone was
brought to Nairobi by General Secretary Canon Carr and General
Committee Chair Rev. John Gatu from Kenya’s Lake Rudolf, the
historic site where Dr. Richard Leakey discovered the remains
of the earliest human. This notable stone has been described
as exemplifying “the marriage of science and religion,”
characterizing African life without a rigid difference between
sacred and secular (Dr. John Gatu, personal communication
March, 2008).
