Welcome
Welcome
to the 9th General Assembly of the AACC! Here we have the
opportunity not only to look forward to the progress we can
achieve together, but also to reflect upon the AACC’s
ecumenical journey with a history of themes, presentations and
resolutions preceding the 8 AACC General Assemblies.
The churches and individuals who have contributed to
45 years of General Assembly discussion and action have been
yearning for change and Africa’s unified witness to Jesus
Christ. The issues they faced and the resolutions they passed
continue to impact the work we embark on in Maputo today.

From
Kampala’s Freedom and Unity in Christ in 1963 to Yaounde’s
Come, Let Us Rebuild in 2003, the General Assembly has both
debated and faithfully committed to act on the day’s
religious, political, social and economic issues. As the
AACC’s premier decision-making body, the General Assembly has
paved the road for ecumenical action in Africa; this overview
highlights the General Assembly’s own journey within that
process. |
