AACC Mourns the Passing of Very Rev. Dr. Festus Ambe Asana
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) joins the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the global ecumenical family, and all people of faith in mourning the passing of the Very Rev. Dr. Festus Ambe Asana, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and a distinguished African church leader and ecumenist. The Very Rev. Dr. Asana passed away on 22 June 2026 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Throughout his life and ministry, Dr. Asana devoted himself to Christian service through pastoral ministry, theological education, institutional leadership, and ecumenical engagement. He served as the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon from 2009 to 2014, and his leadership was grounded in integrity, accountability, and the strengthening of church institutions.
Dr. Asana’s legacy extends beyond denominational boundaries into the broader ecumenical movement. Within the global ecumenical movement, he served the World Council of Churches as a member of the Central and Executive Committees.
As AACC, we give thanks to God for his faithful witness and enduring contribution to the life and mission of the Church in Africa and globally. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, and all who mourn this great loss.
We will always remember Dr. Asana with gratitude for his faithful service. In this time of loss, I pray that we find comfort in the assurance of our Lord Jesus Christ who declared in John 11: 25 that He, our Lord, is the resurrection and the life, and whoever believes in him will live, even though they die.
Yours in Service,
Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki
AACC General Secretary.
