AACC hosted a delegation of church leaders from Christian Aid

Christian Aid is a relief and development charity organization affiliated to 41 Christian churches in Britain and Ireland working to create a world where everyone can live in fullness of life, and free from poverty. On 30th January 2026, Pr. Bob Kikuyu, the Senior Theology Advisor for Christian Aid led a delegation of church leaders from England, South Africa, Pakistan, and South Sudan, and Christian Aid staff for a courtesy visit to the AACC. In his remarks, Pr. Bob Kikuyu mentioned that their visit aimed at strengthening Christian Aid’s relationship with the AACC and also have an exchange on their joint work in South Sudan.

While welcoming the delegation to the AACC, the Director for Finance and Administration, Ms. Phyllis Brewah recognized Christian Aid as one of AACC key partners in advocacy, appreciating it for its contributions to AACC’s strategic sustainability.

“At AACC, we treat advocacy as a missiological obligation” Noted Rev. Dr. Lesmore Gibson Ezekiel as he introduced AACC’s work and constituency to the visitors. He shared about how the AACC has accompanied South Sudan in pursuit of sustainable peace, recalling some of the major interventions undertaken, disappointments encountered, and sources of hope discerned.  He noted that despite all the fall backs and distractions, the AACC and its partners will not give up on accompanying the churches and good people of South Sudan until the vision of sustainable peace anchored on justice is experienced, and emphasizing the urgency of all stake holders in the South Sudan protracted violent conflict to return to the table for dialogue of life.

Christian Aid Country Director for South Sudan, Mr. James Wani, appreciated AACC’s accompaniment and support to Christian Aid and other actors working for sustainable peace in South Sudan. He expressed his worry that the country seems to be drifting towards war with recent ugly developments but amplified the need to support the Action Plan for Peace of the Sudan Council of Churches that seeks to end the protracted cycle of violence and deepen culture of peace.

“The road to peace is not straight with many obstacles and challenges on the way. I am very glad that you are determined to help South Sudan get out of war.” Noted Bishop Joseph Aba from South Sudan.
